Based in London, Cineworld Group is the second largest film company in the world, just behind AMC cinemas. Founded in 1995, it is spread over 10 countries and has more than 9,500 screens.
The company charges customers based on how they want to watch a movie instead of pricing it based on the movie itself.
Currently, it is the only British film company listed, generating a turnover of 852.3 million in 2020. The chain also has many subsidiaries including the American cinema chain Regal Cinemas.
But now it looks like the world’s second largest movie channel is having technical issues with its app. Recently, many reported that the Cineworld app is not working for them.
Users say some of the available movies are missing and not listed while others say they cannot cancel their reservations.
@cineworld my Cineworld app is not working properly, it doesn’t show all the movies that are in theaters that day, it only shows one or two movies! This was when I updated my phone to iOS 15, I can still book through the website but annoying the app is not working properly
@cineworld Is there a problem with the app because I am watching Glasgow R times on Saturday and it only gives me 6 movies to book when there are about 20 on the site?
Fortunately, Cineworld Cinemas acknowledged the problem and said it was working on a fix.

And as if that wasn’t enough, many say the The Cineworld app has disappeared from the Apple App Store.
People who deleted the app in order to install it again are distraught because they cannot see the app in the App Store. Cineworld acknowledged the problem and said they were working to resolve it.
@cineworld your app is not on the App Store to download ?! And I can’t book tickets when I log into the desktop version on my MacBook. So how can I book tickets now?
@cineworld Hey, are you aware of any issues with your app on iOS. It wasn’t working so I deleted it and now say it’s not available on the App Store.
It appears that the Cineworld app developers are also aware of the issue and have said they are working on a fix.
Hi Matthew, we are aware of these issues and are working to resolve them as soon as possible. Can you log in and book through the site in the meantime?
In the meantime, Cineworld is asking users to use the website if they want to book or cancel tickets.
It has been a few days since the issues were reported, so users are wondering why Cineworld is taking so long to resolve the aforementioned issues.

Update 1 (September 25)
Cineworld has confirmed that it intentionally removed the app from the App Store until a patched version is prepared.
We are aware of some issues with the app – we are working hard to resolve them as quickly as possible and have temporarily removed the app from the store while we fix it (Source)
