IOS version 15.0.1
Apple released iOS 15.0.1 this week with a fix for an incredibly frustrating bug affecting iPhone 13: Apple Watch Unlock. Previously, many iPhone 13 users could use the “Apple Watch Unlock” feature, but this week’s update fixes this bug.
Apple also says this update fixes an issue where the Settings app may incorrectly display an alert that the storage is full and a Fitness + bug. Find out more in our full coverage.
iPad mini scroll
Following complaints from users and critics, Apple this week confirmed that the so-called “jelly scroll” effect on the iPad mini 6’s screen is normal behavior. For those unfamiliar with it, “jelly scrolling” occurs when one half of the screen refreshes noticeably slower than the other, resulting in a swaying effect as content moves quickly.
Apple said in a statement this week that this is “normal behavior for LCD screens.”
Kuo on the future of the iPad and MacBook
Finally, reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo this week released two new reports focused on future updates to MacBook and iPad. First, Kuo reiterated that Apple’s next-generation MacBook Air with an M2 chip and a new design is not expected to arrive until Q3 2022.
Kuo also reported that Apple has abandoned plans for an OLED iPad Air and will continue to use LCD technology in the iPad Air line.
