Square Enix alluded to a Deny mobile spin-off titled NieR Re[in]carnation since March (2020), but until recently it was not known whether this title developed in Japan would make its way to the West. Well, thanks to a recent announcement at the Tokyo Game Show 2020, we now know that the game will be arriving in the US and Europe with an English translation as well.
Above you can watch the Japanese trailer for NieR Re[in]carnation originally released in March (2020). While it’s easy to see that the art direction more or less suits a Nier title, this trailer only offers concept artwork, so it’s hard to say what kind of gameplay will be on offer. Square also posted a new trailer in a tweet to celebrate the game’s arrival in the West, although that trailer (in the tweet below) also doesn’t offer anything worth discussing.

So this means that the details surrounding NieR Re[in]the eyelets are incredibly light. However, we already know that Yoko Taro is the Creative Director, Yosuke Saito is working as a producer, and Keiichi Okabe will take care of the music. These three have a lot to do with the success of Nier: Automata, so it’s good to know Re[in]the carnation is in good hands. Yet we already have a mobile game from Yoko Taro that was released under Nexon called SINoALICE, a title that’s indeed chock-full of in-app purchases, which may or may not be a sign of things to come with NieR Re[in]eyelet. So let’s hope Yoko Taro doesn’t cash on mobile with NieR Re[in]skin tone as he did with SINoALICE.
NieR Reincarnation is available on the Play Store for pre-registration
Our apologies for the long silence since the last update, but we would like to share with you the state of development regarding the English version of NieR Re.[in]eyelet.

The English version of NieR Re[in]eyelet just appeared on the Play Store for pre-registration. Earlier this month, current director Daichi Matsukawa posted a statement on Twitter that made it clear that the game’s English localization was complete and that Square Enix was gearing up for an upcoming pre-registration phase. Well, that phase begins today, so anyone is free to pre-register to receive a release announcement when the game officially launches in the West, regardless of the day. Pre-registration will also give you a chance to be randomly selected to test the game in an upcoming closed beta test.
So now that NieR Re[in]carnation is listed on the play store, we’ve got some screenshots to share as well as some cool info found in the game description. It’s described as an action-command RPG (whatever that means), and it will include an automatic combat mode (with the toggle visible in the screenshots above), which doesn’t look very promising when it comes to mobile RPGs. So hopefully the story is a good one, because another auto RPG doesn’t look very appealing. Of course, if you want to check out the new Play Store listing on your own, you can access the page through the Play Store widget at the bottom of the page, where you can also pre-register.
NieR Reincarnation English Closed Beta Begins on Android
The closed beta test has started. Enjoy the world of NieR Re[in]eyelet!

While it was not known exactly when the closed beta of NieR Re[in]the carnation would unfold, it would seem that today is the day. A recent announcement on Twitter revealed that the closed beta test has started, so some players are expected to have access to the game starting today. This closed beta will run from today through June 1, so you have less than a week to test it if you go into the beta.
A word of warning, this beta version of the game might run into issues if you leave it installed after the game is officially released. So, the What’s New section on the Play Store specifically recommends that all players remove the Closed Beta once they are done with it, as issues could arise later. Additionally, those playing the Japanese version will not be able to transfer their data to the English beta, although it remains to be seen if this will be possible once the full English version is officially released.
Of course, if you haven’t entered the beta, you can still pre-register to receive a release announcement and possibly earn some in-game rewards. So feel free to pre-register through the Play widget. Store at the bottom of the page.
NieR Reincarnation Finally Has A US Release Date
Last month I took the closed beta for NieR Re[in]eyelet for a ride and walked away impressed with the design and history. It looks like Square is aiming to create something a little deeper than most of its free mobile titles. Of course, Ré[in]Carnation is indeed a gacha RPG, and battles rarely require skill, but the story is worth exploring, and there’s no doubt that the art and the music are both phenomenal.
Until today, it was still not known when the English version of this game would land in the United States, but Square has just announced that NieR Re[in]carnation is set to release in North America, Europe and Korea on July 28 for Android and iOS devices. The game has already racked up over 400,000 pre-registrations, and if you haven’t already, you can pre-register through the Play Store widget below to earn some rewards on release day.
