Now about 99% of the time the game should just update itself in the background with nothing more needed on your end. However, that 1% of the time, because the Microsoft Store is not always the most trusted storefront, will cause the update to fail. Sometimes a full PC restart can handle this, but surprisingly there is an easier way. To force an update on Bedrock, open the Microsoft Store by typing its name into your Windows search bar. Once opened, what you have to do will depend on your version of Windows. In Windows 10, you’ll need to click on the three dots at the top left and click on Downloads and updates (or something like that). In Windows 11, you need to click on Library at the bottom left.

Once in this menu, you can see Minecraft for Windows as an update option. If you don’t, click “Get Updates” and you should see it appear. If the download doesn’t start automatically, just click Update on it and it should update your game if the Windows Store is working properly. Once done, your game will be updated to the latest version and you should be able to play again! Enjoy!
