Jacksonville Residents Can Uber For Free To Some COVID Vaccination Sites

Free Uber rides for those who want to get there and back COVID-19 vaccination sites in areas of the city with limited access to transportation are offered by the Jacksonville Transportation Authority.

Free door-to-door rides, part of the JTA’s Ride to Health initiative, are available for rides to any vaccination site within the combined 10 postcode area: 32202, 32204, 32205 , 32206, 32208, 32209, 32218, 32219, 32220 and 32254.

Uber is subsidizing 100% of the cost of approximately 4,000 rides in this new part of the Ride to Health program, created to improve access to essential resources during a pandemic in the city, said JTA CEO Nathaniel Ford Sr. .

“This program builds on that mission by ensuring that underserved areas disproportionately affected by the pandemic are not left behind as our city advances in immunization,” said Ford.

“Transport should not be a barrier to accessing vaccines,” added Uber chief spokesperson Javi Correoso. “By working with the JTA, we are proud to support their Ride to Health efforts to dramatically improve access to COVID-19 vaccines by providing transportation to and from appointment for vaccines.”

The program runs until September 30. Trips can be scheduled from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday at no charge, as long as each costs less than $ 25. The Uber app is required to claim the free travel voucher and can be downloaded from the App Store on Apple smartphones or the Play Store on Google smartphones. Uber vouchers can also be redeemed at r.uber.com/rHvwrpXA9t1.

Vaccines are available at select Florida Department of Health sites, some of which are listed below, as well as many drugstores and grocery stores in the area. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a vaccination site locator at vaccins.gov.
