Improved gaming experience with the return of Viking football


SIOUX FALLS, SD – Augustana Football and Viking fans expect a great season ahead with new turf and a continuously improved fan experience, adding to the atmosphere of the game inside Kirkeby Stadium- Over.

Starting with a first digital ticketing system, fans who purchase pre-match tickets at will receive their tickets digitally. From there, fans have the option of presenting their tickets on their smartphones or printing their tickets at home. Single match tickets purchased at the box office may have their tickets printed, texted, or emailed at the time of purchase.

The new GoAugie mobile app, brought to you by CellOnly, will give fans the easiest and most convenient way to purchase their tickets. The app also offers quick access to event schedules, rosters and team information, customizable push notifications, live and archived videos, and more. The free app is available for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

On match days, the car parks open at 8 a.m., including the First PREMIER Tailgate car park (west). Parking is free for A-Club members with their passes (if applicable), and only $ 5 per space for the public.

Augieville, the site of all pre-game festivities, kicks off at 11 a.m., with music, inflatable and lawn games, appearances from the Viking Marching Band and Augustana Spirit Squads as well as the A-Club Tailgate . A-Club members will receive a free meal with their Viking Pass at A-Club Tailgate and fans who are not A-Club members can purchase that same meal for $ 10.

In addition, Augustana students have a space in Augieville specially designed for them to create their own tailgate, run by the student support organization SKOL. Augieville is located north and west of the Kirkeby-Over Stadium on the training football ground.

As mentioned above, 2021 marks the return of the Viking Marching Band and their first appearance at Kirkeby-Over Stadium. Fans will be treated to pre-match and half-time performances in each match, in addition to adding to the collegial atmosphere in the stadium. Already over 75 members, the Viking Marching Band will only add to Augustana’s football matchday tradition.

A beer garden will be added to the stadium experience throughout the season after a positive response from the community of a similar trial at Viking Days in 2019. New equipment for fans throughout the season will be guided by a policy designed to promote responsible drinking and a safe and enjoyable environment for all fans. With a similar setup to the Levitt Pavilion in downtown Sioux Falls, JJ’s Wine, Spirits and Cigars will serve alcohol in a controlled area on the southeast side of the stadium.

Fans will be greeted at the entrance to the beer garden by an identification and wristband post. Adult drinks must stay in the garden and only people 21 years of age and older, with valid ID, will be allowed in the beer garden. Qualified waiters from JJ’s Wine, Spirits and Cigars will serve alcohol. The full beer garden policy can be found in the AZ guide. The stadium doors open at 11:30 am with beer and wine sales at noon. The service area will close at the end of the third quarter.

The promotion calendar is filled with big events in 2021, and it all starts on Saturday, September 4 as the Vikings host Minot State in the first game at Kirkeby-Over Stadium since 2019. The Hall of Fame game is scheduled for Saturday, September 18. At halftime of the Vikings competition with MSU Moorhead, the Hall of Fame Class of 2020 will be recognized. The last Saturday in October is the Sanctuary’s 49th annual game in Augustana. The Vikings host Winona State on October 30. Information on the events surrounding the Shrine game can be found at

The final game of the regular season will be on Nov. 13 as the Southwestern Minnesota State Mustangs travel to Kirkeby-Over Stadium. Several activities are planned in addition to the Seniors Day. Augustana will highlight the senior class with a military appreciation.
