IIT Kharagpur student detained for harassing and blackmailing 50 underage girls and teachers


A 19-year-old BTech student was arrested in Patna by the North Delhi Cyber ​​Cell for allegedly harassing and harassing nearly 50 girls and teachers from renowned North Delhi schools. He allegedly sent the victims their metamorphosed and obscene photographs and blackmailed them.

DCP (Northern District) Sagar Singh Kalsi told The Indian Express that the accused was using high-tech apps for fake caller numbers and virtual numbers available on the Google Play Store to contact and harass victims who were for most minors.

“He would call victims from their own number using certain apps and text WhatsApp from virtual numbers to send obscene transformed photos of victims and blackmail them,” Kalsi said.

Three years ago, according to police, the accused met a girl he had started to track down with the same modus operandi. One of the victims had lodged a complaint against him at the Civil Lines police station.

“He then blackmailed his friends and started creating their profiles as well. He had also created fake Instagram accounts of underage girls to contact their other friends and joined a WhatsApp group created for online school classes by requesting a link. He also entered the school’s online classes using the links provided by the victims he blackmailed and also used a voice changer app when he called the victims on WhatsApp, ”Kalsi added.
