DETROIT – Happy Thanksgiving, Motown!
Fortunately, the rain stopped soon enough and long enough for a wonderful and memorable American Thanksgiving Parade. Now the precipitation is back in force … but we have seen worse. It is not impossible to drive from the Lions game or until Thanksgiving dinner.
Temperatures will be much lower this evening and tomorrow. This cold model will be sticking around for the big college football game in Ann Arbor on Saturday and for the next big travel day on Sunday.
Thursday afternoon was cool and soggy. Be extremely careful on the roads as they are slippery and have puddles. We don’t want hydroplaning or accidents.
Get ready to bundle up tonight: a cold front has passed, causing temperatures to drop after sunset. We went from the 40s to the 30s quickly. In addition, it stays wet. The cold rain will turn to scattered flurries and flurries during the evening.
Die-hard merchants who plan to camp next to their favorite store tonight will need to bundle up and have a plan to stay warm. Nightly lows will be in the 1920s under mostly cloudy skies with a few flying snowflakes.
Cold black friday
Friday will be partly sunny to mostly cloudy and colder. Morning showers are possible. Afternoon temperatures will not be until the mid-1930s.
Cold and wet weekend
Michigan stadium will be packed with people wearing their blue and blue coats, hats, scarves and gloves on Saturday. As Michigan plays Ohio State with a noon kickoff in Ann Arbor, the skies will be partially sunny and there will still be significant chill in the air. Tailgate temperatures will be subzero and game temperatures will only reach 30s. Wind chills will be at or below freezing point all day.
Saturday evening and Sunday morning there will be snow from a fast moving mower system. Sunday will be slippery and cold for those returning home. Sunday highs will be in the mid-1930s.
