Tuesday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche (who I think will win the Cup) won’t be on NBC Sports Washington. It’s also not gong to be on ESPN or TNT or SpikeTV or whatever. This is something new:
The game is in progress ESPN + / Hulu. Let’s see what this means.
Last month Ian posted the TV show right here on RMNB. Under the TV column there were the values:
- NBCSW +,
- ESPN + / Hulu (it’s Tuesday), and
- ABC / ESPN +
ABC / ESPN + means you can watch this game on the ABC network OR via the ESPN + streaming service.
But ESPN + / Hulu means you can watch this game only when watching ESPN + via Hulu. Capitals vs Avalanche is not on the ESPN + streaming program.
Update, 1:55 p.m.: Tuesday’s game may be available through ESPN + (without Hulu) if you’re outside of the DC area.
Hey FYI I can see the game is only available on my ESPN + app. (But I’m also off the market, not sure if that makes a difference here.) pic.twitter.com/xicRPDtEWH

Update, 5:00 p.m.: Courtesy of Ian, our new working theory is that the ESPN + timeline is just incorrect. Maybe you could watch it without Hulu?

The original message follows:
Yes, it’s confusing, but we’ll explain it to you.
First of all, we’re going to need to know what subscriptions you have. What do you have?
I have ESPN + and Hulu ✅
You’re good. Go to how to watch section below.
I have ESPN + but not Hulu
Update, 5:00 p.m.: It’s still not clear, but you may be able to watch only on ESPN + without Hulu.
You may need to have Hulu and ESPN + to watch this game. You can get a month free before you have to pay $ 13 per month, or you can get a plan.
I have ad-supported Hulu but not ESPN + 🚫
Nope. Hulu is just, like, the way your ESPN + game is delivered to you. You will need to subscribe to ESPN +.
I have Hulu Premium but not ESPN +
Same deal, rich man. You will need to subscribe to ESPN +.
I get my Hulu subscription through Spotify 💩
Okay, this is a hot mess. It’s not very clear, but I don’t think you can get the ESPN + add-on with this type of subscription. You may need to go to Spotify, then choose Account, then Your Services, then deactivate your Hulu subscription, then re-subscribe, perhaps using the Disney / ESPN / Hulu plan.
If you get your Hulu through Spotify and have a separate Disney + account, you’ll need to follow the steps above, but be sure to upgrade to the plan. via Disney Plus, then they’ll send you an email like this to finish:
I recommend doing all of this from a laptop, not a phone, because it is hell.
I also recommend that you don’t wait right before the game to do this, as updating your Hulu subscription settings can sometimes take a hot minute and may even require customer service.
I also recommend that you check your account page under Disney + to make sure they don’t double-bill you.
We absolutely have to cancel this Disney + (monthly) subscription if you have the package. Weird, they don’t automatically do this for you. Yes. Weird indeed.
I have neither Hulu nor ESPN + 👻
Oh, you’re completely fucked up. I don’t know how to talk to you.
I don’t even know what Hulu and ESPN + are 👴
Oh my God.
I am alive without breath; as cold as death; never thirsty, never drink; all by mail, without ever ringing
You are a fish.
How to watch
You can access Hulu through anything.
If you’re using a phone or tablet, go to your App Store and search Hulu. You will see an advertisement for HBO Max. It’s a blow of cock. Scroll to HBO Max, then select To install next to Hulu. The application is free (the subscription costs money).
If you’re on a computer, here’s a direct link to the game’s page.
If you want to watch the game on a TV like it’s the Clinton years or something, then you will have to find a way to get Hulu on your TV. This can be through your cable box, through your TV itself, or through an external device like a Roku. (Yes, this is all meant to make people over 45 feel like their brains are melting.) I don’t know what you have, but look at your remote. Is there a Hulu button on it? Let’s hope so. Just click on it and we might be lucky.
If the Hulu app appears, thank goodness. Search now NHL like in the video above and you are golden.
I’m very curious what the lag will look like from radio, which, oh forgot to mention radio. It’s easy.
Either way, if you can’t get this to work for Tuesday’s game, you have until the Pens game on Friday, December 10 to find out. I need a nap.
